Women Who Read, Lead, and Rise Together
As women, we're often told that if we want to succeed, we have to figure it out on our own. Build the business. Raise the family. Manage the finances. Learn marketing. Network. Somehow balance it all while making it look effortless.
But what if success wasn't meant to be a solo journey?
I had the pleasure of sitting down with entrepreneur and founder Jennifer Kornoelly, and our conversation was a powerful reminder that community can change everything.
From Loneliness to Leadership
Jennifer spent years working as a real estate photographer, a career that gave her freedom but also left her working alone. Without coworkers to collaborate with or bounce ideas off of, she found herself searching for something more.
She turned to audiobooks.
What started as a way to fill quiet hours quickly became a personal growth journey. She immersed herself in books about personal finance, investing, entrepreneurship, and business development. Each book helped her become more knowledgeable, but there was still something missing.
Connection.
Knowledge is powerful, but having people to discuss that knowledge with can be life-changing.
The Birth of She Reads, She Leads
Jennifer decided to reach out to other women and ask a simple question:
"Who wants to read business books together and meet online to talk about them?"
The response was overwhelming.
That small idea grew into She Reads, She Leads, a virtual community where women gather to discuss books, share business strategies, hold one another accountable, and create meaningful relationships.
It's more than a book club.
It's a safe space where women can admit they're struggling, ask questions without judgment, celebrate victories, and sometimes even build business partnerships together.
In a world where competition is often encouraged, Jennifer is proving that collaboration is far more powerful.
Why Women Need These Conversations
One of the topics that resonated with me the most was financial literacy.
So many of us grow up without being taught about credit, investing, taxes, or even how to manage money effectively. We become adults and are suddenly expected to know how to navigate mortgages, business expenses, and entrepreneurship.
The truth is, many women are learning as they go.
I shared my own experiences of having to teach myself about finances and business because the knowledge simply wasn't handed to me. Like many entrepreneurs, I started with an idea, determination, and a willingness to learn through trial and error.
Jennifer pointed out something that is often overlooked:
Many women don't start businesses because they have an MBA or a perfect business plan. They start businesses because life demands it.
They become entrepreneurs because they need flexibility for their children, because they see a problem that needs solving, or because traditional employment doesn't fit their circumstances.
Necessity often becomes the birthplace of innovation.
Audiobooks: An Unexpected Superpower
As someone who is blind, audiobooks have always been a huge part of my life. They allow me to absorb information while I'm cleaning, working, or simply moving through my day.
What I loved hearing from Jennifer was that audiobooks have become a tool for everyone.
Whether you're commuting to work, raising children, running a business, or juggling a thousand responsibilities, audiobooks make learning accessible and convenient.
Growth doesn't always have to happen sitting quietly with a book in your hand.
Sometimes growth happens while you're washing dishes.
Building Businesses Through Community
One of the most inspiring parts of our conversation was discussing how women from different backgrounds and different parts of the country can come together to share perspectives.
A business owner in Idaho may face different challenges than one in Florida or North Carolina, but when those women connect, they broaden each other's understanding and strengthen one another.
Community creates confidence.
Networking creates opportunity.
Collaboration creates growth.
And sometimes, one conversation can completely change the direction of your business.
We Rise Higher Together
Women are starting businesses at record numbers, but with that growth comes the need for education, mentorship, and support.
We need spaces where we can talk about marketing, money, taxes, networking, credit, mindset, and the realities of entrepreneurship.
We need spaces where vulnerability is welcomed.
Most importantly, we need to stop believing that we have to do everything alone.
Jennifer's story is proof that one simple idea can create a ripple effect that impacts countless women.
A book club became a community.
A community became a support system.
A support system became a movement.
And that is exactly what empowerment looks like.
Because when women share knowledge, support one another, and choose collaboration over competition, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.
Until next time, keep learning, keep growing, and never be afraid to build the table where everyone has a seat.
