Embracing Creativity, Empowerment, and Every Hat We Wear with Nikki Allen
On this powerful episode of the Women on the Rise segment of the BFF Empowerment Podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the incredibly talented Nikki Allen. And let me just say, this conversation was one of those beautiful reminders that women are never just one thing.
Nikki is a singer, songwriter, novelist, screenwriter, filmmaker, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. In other words, she wears many hats—and she wears them well. From the very beginning of our conversation, it was clear that Nikki is a woman who is constantly evolving, creating, and stepping boldly into new spaces.
What made this interview so special was how naturally the conversation flowed from one topic to the next. We talked about writing, music, empowerment, spirituality, healing, entrepreneurship, art, travel, and the importance of being open to growth. It was honest, layered, and full of those real-life reflections that so many women can relate to.
From Screenplays to Novels: The Beauty of Expanding a Story
One of the most fascinating parts of our conversation centered around Nikki’s journey as a writer. She shared how one of her projects, Loved You, Hated You, began as a song, then evolved into a screenplay, and eventually became a novel.
As someone who has written many books myself, I loved hearing her perspective on the differences between screenwriting and novel writing. We had such a relatable exchange about what it means to build out a story. In a screenplay, so much can be shown visually. But in a novel, you have to slow down and fill in every detail—the atmosphere, the emotion, the sensory experience, the little moments that make the reader feel like they are inside the story.
It was a reminder that creativity often requires patience. Sometimes the vision is there, but the process of expanding it can stretch you in ways you did not expect. That is true not only in writing, but in life.
Empowerment Through Creativity
Another powerful thread throughout our conversation was empowerment. Nikki spoke about her latest creative projects and how so much of her work is rooted in helping women reclaim themselves, especially after toxic relationships or painful life experiences.
That message resonated deeply with me because empowerment is at the core of everything I do as well. Whether through my books, my poetry, my podcast, my pageant platform, or the No Limits Girl empowerment app I created for young girls, I believe in helping women and girls recognize their worth, own their voice, and walk confidently in who they are.
During the episode, I also shared pieces of my own creative journey—from writing poetry like my piece She Rose, to building a platform designed to teach confidence, poise, self-esteem, and personal growth to the next generation. Nikki and I connected on that shared passion for pouring into others through the gifts we’ve been given.
And that is what made this episode so meaningful. It was not just two women talking about what they do. It was two women talking about why they do it.
There Is Power in Being Multifaceted
One of my favorite things about this conversation was how much it celebrated being multifaceted. So often, people want to put women in boxes. They want us to choose one lane, stay in one category, and make ourselves easy to define.
But both Nikki and I know that life is bigger than that.
You can be creative and business-minded.
You can be spiritual and strategic.
You can be nurturing and ambitious.
You can be healing and still becoming.
You can wear many hats and still walk in purpose.
Nikki shared how she recently discovered a new love for painting after attending a paint-and-sip event with her daughter. What started as a simple bonding experience turned into a newfound passion—and even a possible business venture. I loved that because it speaks to something so important: sometimes new doors open when you simply give yourself permission to try.
You do not have to have it all figured out before you begin. Sometimes purpose unfolds while you are in motion.
A Deeper Conversation on Spirituality and Faith
As the conversation continued, we also got into a deeper and more personal discussion about spirituality, religion, and the ways people connect with God.
This part of the episode was especially heartfelt because it was not about judgment or division. It was about honesty. It was about acknowledging that each person’s spiritual journey is personal and that faith can look different for different people.
Nikki shared her thoughts on unity, spirituality, and her vision for creating a space where people from different religions can come together in conversation rather than conflict. I appreciated that so much because I, too, believe that love, respect, and understanding matter more than labels.
We spoke openly about how religion can sometimes create unnecessary division, while spirituality can feel more freeing and personal. It was one of those conversations that did not seek to force agreement, but instead made room for reflection. And I think that is something we need more of—spaces where people can speak their truth, listen with openness, and still find connection.
Entrepreneurship, Healing, and Following the Call
Nikki also shared more about the many avenues she is involved in, including her nonprofit work and her metaphysical business, The Empress Company. Listening to her describe the things she creates and the spaces she wants to hold for others was inspiring because it reflected someone who is not afraid to follow where her passions lead.
That is something I always want women to remember: you are allowed to evolve. You are allowed to start over. You are allowed to explore new gifts. You are allowed to build something that reflects who you are becoming.
Too often, people think they have to shrink themselves into what is familiar. But growth requires expansion. It requires courage. It requires trusting that the pieces of who you are can work together, even when they seem different on the surface.
A Conversation Full of Heart, Humor, and Realness
What I loved most about this episode was that it felt real. It felt like sitting down with someone who is passionate, honest, thoughtful, and unafraid to be herself. There were moments of laughter, moments of reflection, and moments that challenged deeper thinking.
That is what the Women on the Rise segment is all about—highlighting women who are rising in their own unique way, sharing their stories, and reminding others that success does not have to look one-dimensional.
Nikki Allen is proof that you can honor every part of who you are. You do not have to choose between your creativity, your calling, your healing, and your ambition. There is room for all of it.
Final Thoughts
This episode is a celebration of creativity, resilience, self-expression, and the courage to keep becoming. It is for the woman who is still discovering all the hats she was meant to wear. It is for the woman who has been through hard things but still chooses to rise. It is for the woman who knows that her story, her gifts, and her journey all matter.
If you have ever felt like your path is unconventional, like your interests are too broad, or like your story has too many chapters to explain neatly—let this be your reminder that there is power in every part of who you are.
You are allowed to be layered.
You are allowed to be evolving.
You are allowed to rise in your own way.
